Requirements

Who Youth aged 7 to 17, divided into three age groups.
Age Groups
Group A: Ages 7–10 Group B: Ages 11–13 Group C: Ages 14–17
Theme Connections: People, Nature, Culture and the World.
Size Maximum A3 (297 x 420 mm). Portrait or landscape.
Description A short artwork statement of up to 300 characters explaining the connection your artwork shows.
Originality Your own original, hand-made work. Not previously published or entered elsewhere. One submission per artist.
Ownership The organiser holds rights to all submitted works, including digital and physical forms. Works may be displayed and used for promotional purposes.

Judging Criteria

Artwork will be evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, technical execution, and overall composition.

Every artist who submits receives a personalised digital Certificate of Participation. Winners announced at the exhibition opening on August 22, 2026.

The organiser holds all rights to submitted works, including digital and physical forms. Works may be displayed at the festival, at Craft Nova Scotia, and used in promotional materials. Artists are credited by name in all uses.

Both deadlines are August 7, 2026. Your online registration must be completed and your physical artwork must arrive at 620 Brookline Dr, Unit 203, Bedford, NS by this date.
Artists are divided into three groups: Group A (ages 7–10), Group B (ages 11–13), and Group C (ages 14–17). Each group is judged separately with its own First, Second, and Third Place awards.
Artworks are scored out of 20 points across four criteria: concept and theme (5 pts), alignment with the festival theme (5 pts), colour use (5 pts), and composition (5 pts). Judges are art professionals invited on a voluntary basis.
Yes. The festival is free and open to everyone. You do not need to submit artwork to attend or enjoy the activities.
No. Submitted artworks will not be returned. The organiser holds all rights to submitted works and they may be displayed at the festival, at Craft Nova Scotia, and used in promotional materials. Artists are credited by name in all uses.

No. Submitting and attending are both completely free.
All activities and the exhibition are open to visitors of all ages. The 7 to 17 range applies to artwork submission only.
